The Seed

In studio with legendary fashion designer Gert-Johan Coetzee, where we are creating magic for the upcoming book, In Good Company.

Gert's couture evening wear has been worn by some big names including Bonang, Zozibini Tunzi, Cardi B and he’s worked with Oprah.

When asked what symbol Gert see's himself as, he said "I see myself as seed. It does not matter if you get buried in the dark, as you will grow no matter what". It was this idea of growth that captured with this art piece. Gert holds a delicate ballerina with dandelion flower dress whose seeds float away, to experience the next cycle of growth.

Author, John Harrington said it best with this quote " Happiness held is the seed; Happiness shared is the flower."

Gert's work philosophy is unique in that he doesn't see himself just as a fashion designer. In an interview he says that he's always wanted something bigger that goes beyond just fashion. "I believe that I make people’s dreams come true".

When we see our work as more than just what we do - how we can deeply affect others lives, then we transcend the ordinary and inhabit the extraordinary.
